Work finally sent me out of the state of Louisiana.  Yeah Texas!  Wow, how that was something I never thought would come out of my mouth.

In other news, I am being introduced as a new member of the congregation this coming Sunday at St. Charles Ave. Presbyterian Church.  Right now it is seeming like more trouble than it's worth.  For the last two days I've gotten calls in the field related to this shin-dig.  The first was from a woman assigned to sit with me during the service wondering if I had any questions about that (not really since I spent my college years attending this same church.  Also is it the best idea to tell me that you have been assigned to sit with me).  Today, it was the church office needing my picture for the bulletin (made more difficult by the fact that I am currently in Texas, but luckily I was able to email a picture.)

I'm supposed to show up an hour and fifteen minutes before the service starts in order to meet with the leaders of the activities I expressed interest in.  Due to my erratic schedule, and the fact that I want to be able to fulfill any commitments that I make, I only expressed interest in the choir.  The choir has rehearsal at that time, and I highly doubt that the choir master is going to skip his own rehearsal in order to meet with me, so it could be a long hour and fifteen minutes of staring at the woman assigned to sit with me in church.  Oh well.  At least I have a chance of rejoining a singing group, the thing I've missed most in the past nine months.

Hunting

So, Sunday I patronized the Springhill United Methodist Church because it was the least Charismatic looking one in the town.   This is an excerpt from that experience.

Minister: And I would like to remind all the men that the Men's Fellowship Wild Game Dinner will be next monday evening.

Me: ?!

Minister: Blah, Blah, Blah a bunch of other announcements. Now let us pray.

Man in the Choir (a bass I think): Wait, I'd like to elaborate on the Wild Game dinner if I may.  If you're going to bring some game, you'll need to put it in the church refrigerator next sunday so it has plenty of time to thaw out.  And for those of you who don't hunt, someone needs to make the salads and the green beans and maybe some potatoes.

Me: This is so not PA

I snow!

So, incase your blind, or Arynne, it snowed here last night, so I got up and didn't have to go to church because the snow was over my boot and I didn't think I could make it out of the driveway. Instead I:

1. Knitted a sweater for my Ipod. I find that when you leave the Ipod in a cold car for eight hours the battery dies and leaves you with nothing to listen to on the way home from work. Hopefully now the Ipod will stay all toasty and that will not happen.

2. Watched The Newly Wed Game on Game Show Network. Funniest. Show. Ever. The family came to check on my because I was laughing so hard.

3. Went sledding with [livejournal.com profile] undy_niable. Very fun except for the need to avoid neighbor kid on his ATV. Though, the ATV did pack the snow down quite well, so wow did we go fast. Then I fell off the toboggan because I overcompensated while attempting to steer. Anyone know how to properly steer the toboggan?

4. Attempted to formulate the reaction post I want to make on Brokeback Mountain. I've seen it twice now, and both times the people I went with liked it much less than I did, which is starting to annoy me.

Hopefully I will now not have to sing the annoying Robert Frost poem-song in church.

I am fairly bored. I would like all the activities associated with school to start; although, I could probably do with out the actual school. I'm such a dork that I have actually already read parts of three of my text books. Though granted they are the more interesting ones. Egypt, Decaying bodies, and writing. I don't so much like actual writing classes, but I like well written books about the writing process and grammar. I adore Eats, Shoots and Leaves and would like to become a member of the zero tolerance approach to punctuation movement.

I went to church this morning 'cause well it's sunday and that is what one does on a Sunday. All the ministers that I knew her in NOLA seem to have left. How could so much change in one year. Apparently they have also decided to hold our college services on Wednesday evening. ?!?!?!?!? Who has church services on a wednesday evening (And keep in mind I'm talking about a main kind of church service here.) GRRRRRR.
