Does anyone have any PodFic recommendations. I am quite enjoying listening to it at work interspersed between my regular Podcasts and audiobooks. I am however having a difficult time finding stuff (possibly because there is a much larger assortment of things I am willing to read than what I think to look for). So if you have a rec, even if it is not a ship I've ever expressed interest in, please let me know.

A probably not exhaustive list of fandoms I've dabbled in, just in case )

I did the fandom card thing that is going around. I seem to be the only one who actually got their primary house, but yup, still a Ravenclaw. I'm also apparently The Doctor, so that is pretty awesome!

I am super excited for my Birthday curry and trip to the Panto tonight! They're doing Treasure Island again, which is the first repeated show that I know about (certainly since we started attending, and I believe we were there for the very first year) and the last time was only a couple of years ago (Three? Four?). But Yay! Pirates! And Silly Songs! And Multi Media Theater!

Another Gally has come and gone.  Tear. I had tons of fun, actually did some autographs and pictures, and now can't wait until next year!  Full write up to come later....probably.

So when did the whole land challenge community thing start.  I know this time last year I had never heard of the concept and now I am in three (and oh, how I really need to not join any others).  This fact leads me to believe that they are a fairly recent invention, but then I'm not always the most up to date on these things, so maybe they've been around for years and I've just never noticed.  I can be oblivious like that.  Really the evolution of fandom fascinates me.  I think it is my inner anthropologist.

Anyway, this all came about because I need to tell you to join [livejournal.com profile] sorkinverse you know, if you are interested in the works of Aaron Sorkin and interested in a challenge community.  If you're not, you could join anyway, but I don't think that would be terribly enjoyable for you.  Right now we're at the very beginning, what with the making of team banners and going crazy over trying to guess movies from random screen caps (or maybe the going crazy thing is just me).  So yeah, lots of fun, with The West Wing, Studio 60, and Sportsnight, what could be better than that?

So what Old School Who pairings do people read?  'Cause, uh, I could use some recs.

In may be possible that I have only watched up through half (or so) of Tom Baker.  It may also be possible that that in no way precludes me from reading later based fics.

Last night we had a Christmas party in our hotel, because that is what you do when you are an archaeologist and live in hotels. I provided the tree and the mulled cider (which turned out surprisingly well considering that Kat just handed me a bunch of stuff saying "I think these are all the ingredients" and I just guessed at proportions as I threw stuff in the crock-pot). I brought a can opener for my white elephant gift, which may just be my best white elephant gift ever - Bizarre as hell, but actually very useful. It even got stolen once, so I felt justified in my choice.

In other news, this year I went from never signing up for a fandom, holiday gift exchange to signing up for two - and one of them you make a present for everyone instead of getting assigned a person. I may now be in over my head. I did get me to make my very first wallpaper, which was kinda fun, so really a good experience so far.

Finally, I only have seven hundred some songs left to rate in my iTunes, a project I've been working on since the start of the year. That means I can finish by the end of the year if I rate thirty songs a day between now and then. I really want to make it so that I can officially declare 2009 the year of iTunes rating.

Waters of Mars. Waters of Mars. Waters of Mars. Waters of Mars. Waters of Mars. Waters of Mars.

I had wondered, while filling out a friending meme, if Glee was succeeding in usurping Doctor Who's current place in my fandom affections. Measuring today's excitement and anticipation against that of Wednesday, I have to say the answer is no.

Defying Gravity was pretty great though. Just saying.

Yesterday I said I thought Torchwood broke me.  Now there is no thought about it -- Allison = officially broke.

I'm not usually one for the audible reactions to TV (as apposed to my mother who gasps everytime someone spills a drink in a paper towel commercial) but I did gasp out loud at why they wanted the children.  There was also some flinching and looking away during theCut for those who are up on their mythology and/or obscure musicals )
Comic con is going to a be a wild time -- I hope RTD's ready for it.

You know what, I don't even have an icon that can handle this.

I think Torchwood may have just broke me.  I have a strong urge to simply write OMG like 500 times (but I will resist being over the age of 15) When did it go from being ho-hum to being the most amazing thing ever?

Also, I may have to join fandom in hating Gwen, not because I hate her on her own merits (because I totally don't), but because Rhys needs to be mine!

Finally I have no idea how there is going to be a resolution in only one more hour.
