A quiet night, a stack of books, a tuna melt on rye

This is mostly for myself.  I need to finish all the crafts lying around my apartment before I start anything new, so here is the list. 

• Green scarf
• Too small blanket  (This became a hat and scarf set)
• Stuffed alien  Frogged due to my inability to figure out what size crochet hook I used initially
• Lion poster
• Grey and Blue striped scarf -- just suck it up and weave in the ends
• Mardi Gras bead pictures
• Santa cross stitch
• Angel cross stitch
• Grey "silence in the library" shirt -- really hemming will take all of two seconds
• Snow man ornaments -- backing will also take two seconds
• Chain mail

There is also the tea-cup wreath cross stitch and the fantasy sampler cross stitch, but if I wait until I finish those I will never start another project. 

    I'd forgotten what spending time off in a hotel was like.  My company, and I believe a large proportion of field archaeologists, work on a ten-day on four-day off schedule instead of the traditional five-day work week enjoyed by much of the rest of the world.  However, when you take vacation, the time off is reckoned on a five-day schedule.  Therefore, you get more bang for your buck, as it were, if you take off five days at a time.  Which is what I did.  This however meant that when I came back I was on the opposite ten day as the crew I was working with before.  I asked to be switched back and my former crew chief requested (or as he put it threw a fit) to have me back, so I found my self working a five and two in Meridian, MS because there are not enough cars for me to drive back to New Orleans for my days off.  Tomorrow, the new crew coming up with swing by and pick me up at the hotel here and I will start a new ten-day with them. 
    So I'm pretty bored.  The last time I had off in a hotel, was back before I had officially moved to New Orleans.  That meant that I always had my personal car available to me at the hotel.  If I wanted to see the sites, take in a movie, or even just pick up some food for lunch I could just go.  This weekend, the cars have all be out with the crew in the field (as they should be) so I have been trapped in the hotel.  Well, at least I finished cross-stiching a whole ornament.  Only four to go. 
    Now, find out that the crew-chief who requested me back is off to another project.  *Pout*  We've become quite the little insular group on this project what with the decree that no one was aloud to join or leave unless they left the company.   It seems that decree is now gone, as people are  both joining and leaving the project.  I'm going to miss our strange little group despite the fact that we will all still be around the company.  Well at least now I get to lead a crew, a crew which hopefully with not include Creepy McCreepster the hotel stalker.

Well now, I haven't updated in forever or, you know, a couple of days.  It's much more difficult to remember to write something on my four days, when I  actually get to do something, than on the ten days when I get to sit in a hotel room after work.

Now it's back to work on the project that just seems to get worse and worse.  Now they want to take away our travel days. 

I am officially converted into a Renn Faire goer.  So. Much. Fun.  I was a little worried about the driving six hours both ways, since we were only on a two-day.  Definitely worth it.  The costume I made last four-day turned out well, though the bodice was slightly too small and I had the most modest blouse ever.  Which frankly I'm okay with.  We saw some rocking bagpipe and drum music, baudy songs sung by some not very good women, and a good traditional type band.  Also jousting.  My night (England) won.  Woot!   Next one in December.

I am no longer in Kansas.  I enjoy that fact muchly. 

Also  there  is  supposed to be a Halloween party tonight, but I  never got the  email invitation and I don't know when it is.  I don't enjoy that  fact muchly. 

My sewing party last evening was a success.  I have most of a costume for  the Renaissance fair next weekend.  yeah.
