Now that we are working on phase III's I get to listen to my iPod all day at work. I could do so on phase I's, but I find it rather important that I be able to hear my crew, and from the number of times they've been un-able to hear me because of their music, I think it's a rather bad idea. Anyway, I really like listening to the spoken word while I work, but I find myself rapidly going through the back-log of podcasts and audiobooks that I have. So, give me your recs. Anybody have a favorite podcast? A great audiobook? An audio drama they think everyone should listen to? I'd be willing to give them a try.
Right now I'm listening to Alice I Have Been and greatly enjoying it. It's historical fiction based on the life of Alice Liddell the "real" Alice in Wonderland. It's moody and dark and there are Victorians. I love me some Victorians. I've always felt a certain kinship with the Alice stories, possibly because I've had the following conversation many times in my life.
Me: Hi, I'm Allison
Then: Like like the book? Allison Wonderland.
Me: No. That's Alice in Wonderland. A girl called Alice in a place called Wonderland not a girl who's first name is Alice and last name is Wonderland.
Them: Oh
Me: But I was named for someone called Alice.
Or, you know, I may have just liked the headband. Also the pinafore (see above re: Victorians).

Podcast wise I listen to SModcast and Tell 'Em Steve-Dave!. I used to listen to The Butcher Block but they haven't had a new one in ages.
I've also got 4 Doctor Who audiobooks I'd like to listen to. Also, the Torchwood radio plays from between season 2 and 3 are amazing.
