So, grasshopper pie went well. It was a little touch and go there while I was trying to whip the whipping cream by hand. Turns out the lids to my plastic containers are not nearly as airtight as they are supposed to be. Also, I should probably not tell people that the only marble I could find to use in this process was one I picked out of the back dirt pile on site. What?! I washed it first! Anyway, things went way better once I took over the roommate's stand mixer.

In other news (which is probably not really news) the Bach Magnificat is HARD. Possibly it wouldn't be so hard if I ever bothered to actually do my choir homework and go over my notes. Turns out I'm turning into the bad choir kid. At least part of the problem is that the second sopranos have their own line of music throughout the entire piece, which means that the alto part is no longer the second line down. We are all constantly jumping up to the second soprano line by accident. But, of course, its not like the whole section does it at the same time. Grrr.

ahhh Magnificat... I've sung that (only one part though)... yes it was hard :)

My issue right now is unlearning habits I picked up since my last lesson... so hard!

Erg. Bad Habits. They are so easy to pick up and so difficult to get rid of. Good Luck!

Are there any wonderful pictures of this epic grasshopper pie so that we can live vicariously through you? And having never made it - what is the marble for?!

Unfortunately there aren't any pictures of the pie. I'm a awful picture taker in that I never remember or think to do so.

As for the marble, when you whip cream by hand there needs to be something causing agitation. You can do it with a whisk, like the machine would, but usually it is easier to put the cream along with a little sugar and a marble into a container and shake until it solidifies.

Interesting. I never even thought of this - I've always just used a whisk.
