I hurt so badly. This ten-day we have been surveying access road which is usually the easiest part of my job. Two people walk, one person on either side of the road, and look to see if there are any artifacts visible on the ground, while a third person drives the truck along behind them. Today we surveyed four roads none of which we could drive down. One road was too muddy and the other three were behind locked gates. The land-agent and land-owner swore up and down that we could unlock the gates, but the key we had certainly did not open any of those lock.
We ended up walking all four roads up and back. Usually our access roads are 500m maybe a mile maybe a mile and a half. Today three were just over a mile and the fourth was three and half. For a total trek of 13 mi. So we're a mile and a half from finishing the day and I feel some skin on my heel rip and a rush of fluid. I managed to burst a blister I didn't even know I had. So I got to do a strange hobbling type movement for that last mile and half trying not to rub my heel on my boot. Up until that point I was way better off than the other two people on the crew in terms of soreness. Grrr.
