Does anyone else listen to the podcast Happier with Gretchen Rubin? Last year the hosts, following a listener suggestion, advocating making a list of 18 things to do in 2018. I didn’t do it. Because I like to come to everything late, I decided that this year would be my year; I would do 19 in 2019. So I made my list of 19 tasks and goals to work on during the year.



I know that I need some accountability, and I also know that I don’t want to join the Happier facebook group to talk about this, so I though I would try posting here again. It has been a while, and I have said that before, so here’s to maybe another chance.




The List


  1. Get a massage
  2. Read 75 books (including 6 for professional development)
  3. Go to 5 new museums
  4. Complete a one month no-spend challenge
  5. Eat-in for one month
  6. Update Budget
  7. Complete a 30 days of yoga challenge
  8. Keep a food diary for one month
  9. Run a 5K
  10. Recommit to vegetarianism
  11. Meditate for 10 minutes at least 3x per week
  12. Send one piece of snail mail a month
  13. Practice music at least 3x per week
  14. Find a volunteer position
  15. Complete a continuing education course
  16. Share one positive thing about each day on Instagram
  17. Complete a Data Science portfolio of at least 5 projects
  18. Commit to one new sustainable habit each month
  19. Go to three theater shows
