So far this is not my week. Last night at around 7:30 I decided to walk down to the grocery store near my house to get some corn soup to bring on this ten-day, since I didn't have a lot of time to cook this weekend like I usually do. Right as I stop on the opposite corner and get ready to cross the street I feel a sudden pain in my heel. There was a nail sticking through the leg of my jeans and into my heel.

I got to hobble home to my cell phone before calling every one I know to try to get a ride to medical attention. The first friend wasn't answering, and the second doesn't drive and wasn't with anyone with a car. Finally, the third rode his bike over to my house to use my car. Of course, when he looked at it he confirmed what I had kind of suspected. The wound wasn't really that bad, I was really just more shaken up (I'm kind of a wuss about doctors). It being late on Labor Day, we figured all the doctors and clinics would be closed, and it wasn't really an emergency, so I just got some first aid supplies, put a band-aid on, and went to bed.

This morning I left on a ten-day. As soon as we got to our project hotel, I asked one of my co-workers to go with me to the local clinic so I could get a Tetnus shot. Really, I'm proud of myself. I did not scream or cry like my inner five-year-old wanted to and I did not pass out like I have on occasion when the dentist has given me novacaine shots. My shoulder doesn't even hurt that much where they stuck me.
