It's December first - er in case you hadn't noticed - the day I officially allow myself to start listening to Christmas music. Strangely I have not done so yet. I suppose I will have to open I tunes while typing this and rectify that situation. Time to break out my favorite Christmas song, which no one has ever heard of, "All Those Christmas Cliches."
I'm a little disappointed. My plane back to New Orleans last night was an hour and forty minutes late, so I did not have time to pack my little tiny Christmas tree with the little tiny ornaments in order to bring it with me in the field thisten twelve day. I'm still annoyed about that twelve-day thing. See, my office is pretending to be magnanimous by giving us the the week between Christmas and New Years off. We would get Dec. 25-28 off anyway since it's our regular four-day. Then we get to use the two bank days we acquired because both thanksgiving and christmas landed on our "weekend" anyway. But that leaved two days unaccounted for, so they are "letting" us work two days extra this ten-day to make them us. Which would be fine if we had been given a choice instead of just having been scheduled. I would be willing to bet that the majority of the field staff still has the accrued bank days from working on memorial day, labor day, and the fourth of July as I do, and which were not accounted for in this wonderful plan. Grrr.
In slightly grr and Allison is a major dork news, do you know how difficult it is to find a reasonably priced book of math problems? I made the mistake? of watching Einstein and Eddington and now have an intense desire to work Calculus or Linear Algebra problems. I'd even settle for a good old Algebra problem. (Apparently in my head Physics=Math, which is not wholly untrue. Also 'cause I took quatum mechanics, though from a Chemisty perspective, and don't really ever want to have to look at it again.) I looked on Amazon and everything is either a textbook (with the delightful accompanying prices of $100+) or geared towards people who do not understand math at all (which is not me). Sometimes I miss college for the strangest reasons.
