Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skulls comes out tomorrow.  I am supposed to be excited.  My entire company seems overjoyed and yet.  Me, not so much.  The movie theater just around the corner from me is holding a midnight showing, and I suppose I will end up seeing the movie there sometime this weekend.  But first I have a confession to make.  I may be the only archaeologist under the age of thirty who is able to say this but "Indiana Jones in no way influenced my career choice."  In fact, I'm not sure I've seen all of the other movies.  I know I've seen the third one because that has Sean Connery, and I think I've seen the other two but it may have only been the first one.  And those movies, I didn't even see in their entirety until I got to college and my roommate had the DVDs.

Now it's not that I don't like Indiana Jones.  It's just that I don't have the overwhelming love that every one else seems too.  I had all kinds of anticipation for the first Star Wars prequel (and would had had the same for the others had it not been clear the George Lucas cannot write dialog to save his life) and I'm counting down the days until The X-Files: I Want to Believe.  But when someone asked me if I was excited for tomorrow, while we were standing in front of a picture of Harrison Ford all dressed up, I still had to ask why I would be excited for tomorrow.

By the way, the fictional character who influence my career choice: Amelia Peabody.  (also to a certain extent Temperance Brennan, from the books not the tv series)

It opens tomorrow? God, thanks! We were making plans to see it on Friday. lol I can not wait for The X-Files movie. I haven't read anything about it online, so I'm not spoiled. I wonder if Mulder and Scully are in a relationship in this one.

I'm glad I could be of some service. I've been reading a little bit on-line about the x-files, but there is just not that much out there. Chris Carter can keep quiet like no-one else. I'm going to be a little miffed if they have Mulder and Scully break up off camera between the end of the series and this movie, but who knows.

It's just something CC would do though. He always said they would never get together. Until he, you know, got them together. I so disliked him by the time the series ended.

Yes that is something CC would pull. I think disliking him came to be a right of passage among x-files fans.

For a girl from Louisiana there is much more in you eyes cannot see!!. Good thoughts.

I thought I would be more excited about Indy. I was stoked when I heard about filming but as it creeps closer I am feeling indifferent. Wont go opening weekend anyway as it will be a mad house, but I will probably see it. Hmm.

Yeah, and all of the Star Wars prequels SUCKED.......IMHO. I live by the first three though if I am honest with myself it is only the first 2 that really are a rocket blast.

I'll only be going to opening weekend because I can walk and the theater is so small and old that most people don't go there. Plus I will get a lot of gruff Monday at work if I haven't seen it.

I enjoy all of the original three, but The Empire Strikes Back is by far my favorite. The first one was a little too expositiony and as I get older the ewoks become a little much in the third. Also, I like Darth Vader.

The Empire Strikes Back is my favorite too because it has the most Darth Vader.......he is sooooo cool. When I was a kid I wanted the force so bad.

Also don't remember watching the first three as a child. Did not influence my career. Am kinda excited about watching the new one. But i feel i should go back and try to watch the other three. Last time i tried to watch One, i fell asleep. Oops

Well, I'm glad I'm not the only one. I had some moments of almost falling asleep during this one, but that was because everyone wanted to go to the 9:30 showing, which puts me up past my bedtime.
