Cause I know we used them all the time

I just had to show a co-worker how to use a triple-beam balance to weigh a sample from a shell midden because it was too heavy for the electronic scale. She'd never seen one before. Is this another thing I was on the very tail end of its use in schools?

I KNOW WHAT IT IS!! But I hated measuring materials at school so I don't remember how to use it. <.< >.>

I

have never seen a thing like that before. Ever. Most especially not in school.

(But I kind of sort of know how to operate it, yay, because we have an oldschool scale at home to weigh the you-will-be-eaten-soon chickens and ducks and geese.

I think it quite possible that you were on the tail end - they weren't very common by the time I graduated, and I'm barely older than you are!
