.The Doctor – She wouldn't have minded a nice shag with the first one, but he was rude about it and that was that. Then he took her daughter away, and no one loves a man that does that. Then he changed and Jackie found out just how alien he actually was. Then her daughter was clearly in love with him. And while Jackie will share many things with her daughter, men are not one.
.That funny looking little dog – When Jackie and Pete first got married she often talked about getting a dog, so it shouldn't have surprised her when Pete brought one home not long after Rose was born. A new baby was just too much to look after and the dog kept getting underfoot, so they gave it to a neighbor within the week. Later, that dog had puppies and the neighbor offered one to Jackie for Rose, but it reminded her too much of Pete and she refused. Funnily enough, once after arriving in the alternate world Jackie was looking though a photo-album of Pete's and found herself – well the other her – at some fancy party clutching that same funny looking dog.
.Mr. Martin – Jackie met him a conference about Roses school work. She expected the usual "Not living up to her potential" and "needs to stop talking and pay attention in class" bits a vowed to try again to get them through to Rose, but was surprised when the meeting ended with an invitation to meet for a pint the following night. Jackie considered it. Going so far as to think how a second income could allow them to move out of the estates, but dating your daughter's teacher is kind of creepy, and Mr. Martin was apparently unable to wait a year. At least he never called when the year was up like she asked.
.Tommy Jones – Her big school romance. Everyone said they were the perfect couple, destined to be together forever. Everyone: her friends, her family. Tommy was sweet and handsome but he lacked something, something Jackie could never put her finger on. So, she left him behind when school ended and everyone called her crazy. It wasn't until Pete that Jackie realized what Tommy had been missing: imagination.
.Laurence Robert Chatsly-Worthington IV – Hero of Temptation among the Daffodils and its sequel Temptation among the Holly. He was fictional after all and only idiots fall in love with fictional characters. Jackie Tyler may be many things but an idiot is not one of them. No, she never fell in love with Laurie she just liked to read about his adventures - once a month or so. Some adventures, say then kind that are found on the page a dropped book might open right up to, she liked to read about every couple of nights.
