I should learn not to get sick on travel days.
Today was the last day of our twelve-day in which we were to drive the five hours from Marianna, Florida back to New Orleans. I manage to spend the entire night before throwing up making driving five hours the last thing in the world I wanted to do. Unfortunately, I couldn't just stay as I had work to turn in at the office today which couldn't be turned in tomorrow and one member of my crew was driving back with me and it wouldn't be fair to trap him in Marianna.
I almost made it the whole way back. Almost. And as always I picked the worst possible moment to get sick; right in the middle of the twin spans (the long bridge that leads into New Orleans from the east on I-10) where there is no where to stop. So I've got my head out the window and my glasses fall off. Not only am I feeling awful, but now I can't see - at least until I got to the office and could put in my contacts. Incidentally, I didn't realize quite how bad my eyesight was. I couldn't read the large signs telling you which highway exit was next until I was right under them. (Yes, I had Tristan drive the whole way.)
I guess it this had to happen one day, today was the best possible day. I was actually planning to go get new glasses tomorrow anyway to use up my health insurance supplement thing before the 31st.
Finally, it snowed yesterday in New Orleans for the second time since I first came down here in 2001 and once again I missed it. I think there are times the universe hates me. I do love me some snow.
